DIVSI decision-maker study about trust and safety on the internet
In 2013, SINUS-Institut surveyed 1,221 leading representatives from business, politics, the public sector, civil society, the media, and academia and research on behalf of the DIVSI on the following topics:
- What do decision-makers think about the internet?
- What degrees of responsibility and influence do they attribute to which players?
- How do they assess users? What do they say about security and freedom needs?
Previous studies looked at the ongoing digitization process exclusively from the user standpoint. The decision-maker study takes a different perspective – it focuses on those who bear management responsibility. Never before have questions about responsibility for the internet, about the design mandate, been examined in such detail.
