Lifeworlds of people with a migration background
In 2008, SINUS was the first institute to study the development of lifeworlds and lifestyles of people with different migration backgrounds while living in Germany. Using the sociological approach of SINUS-Milieus, the research offers an unbiased introduction to and understanding of the everyday world of migrants, with their value orientations, life goals, desires and expectations for the future. The study has received a lot of attention in the media and academic discourse because it paints a very differentiated picture of people with a migrant background and dispels many common clichés about this group.
A summary of the SINUS migrant study can be found here and here.
