Where and how much do people like to go on foot? Which improvements would they like to see?
he “Monitor Pedestrian Traffic 2024” study provides the first well-founded empirical basis on the mood and behavior of the population in Germany with regard to mobility on foot. The study was conducted by SINUS-Institut and supported by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV).
In two separate but comparable representative surveys, people aged 14 and over and parents and their children aged between 6 and 13 were asked about various aspects of walking.
Among other things, the survey focused on the pedestrian-friendliness of the place of residence, the perception of safety, the combination with other means of transport (intermodality) and routes to school.
