Dr. Silke Borgstedt was on the verge of becoming a pianist. Fortunately for SINUS, she decided to go into science. She perfectly masters the the repertoire of research expertise and implementation/consulting skills. Far from living in an ivory tower, she cycles 7 km to work every day, even in the rain and snow.
Silke Borgstedt studied musicology, psychology and educational science at Carl-von-Ossietzky University, Oldenburg and at Technical University, Berlin. In 2007, she received her doctorate from the Humboldt University in Berlin, having earned a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation.
From 2005 to 2009, Dr. Borgstedt worked as a research manager at GIM Gesellschaft für Innovative Marktforschung in the field of international consumer research and as a lecturer at various universities. At the beginning of 2009, we managed to lure her to SINUS. Since July 2010, she has been heading the Research & Consulting department of SINUS-Institut from the Berlin office together with Dr. Marc Calmbach. Since 2021, she is Managing Director at SINUS.
Silke Borgstedt is well versed in social research and classic marketing research (we call this transfer competence). Her current work and topics focus on: family sociology, sociocultural trend research, everyday esthetics, and the development of the culture and media industry. Dr. Borgstedt is a nationally and internationally sought-after speaker and interview partner for radio and television.
In the winter semester 2022 / 23, Dr. Borgstedt is a visiting professor at the Institute for the Study of Culture at Leipzig University and teaches the seminar "Introduction to Sociocultural Trend Analysis and Future Research".
She most enjoys spending her free time with her family, on her bicycle or behind the grand piano.
